I read that it was actually much easier than people assume. That is a tiny town in Utah and security was incredibly lax (understandable, given we're talking about a few thousand people gathered to watch some middling influencers "debate" each other). There wasn't much standing in the way of a quick getaway, and the fact that the shooter took the risk of carrying the gun with him during the escape rather than leave it behind like a trained/prepared sniper would do makes it even more apparent how easy it really was.
