Not necessarily saying that happened in this case but it's 100% fact that was the situation with Hitler becoming Chancellor: sabotage, blame, then fuhrer. "Was it a professional sniper?" and 'who paid them?' would be my first questions. The 'radical left' got blamed long before any thorough investigation could feasibly have been completed
