Then there was an old chinese men with a walking stick sitting down and watching me doing my thing... and after an hour or so he came to me and he said he never seen a Guai Lo (White ghost the slang for foreigner) practising like I did and he wanted to show me something... and he did...
To this day I remember this with fondness and I am proud because he showed me something from his culture something special...

Your example is not something that is necessarily applicable in a current western situation. You were a foreigner, living there and likely receptive by design, and he was at home and of a culture that welcomes that and considers it normal.
