I do not like Trump. I think he is a scamster and a con artist and a warmonger and a phony populist, among other things. But he was very clever with the fist pump, right after being shot at - because many people will see that as a show of strength, and it will work very well against a POTUS who refuses to resign because of his obvious dementia. Juxtapose someone who is clearly being selfish for his own aggrandizement, to a person who appears to have heroically survived an assassination attempt. It's all about the optics and the perception.
