There are two types of Trump Derangement Syndrome; There's there's the kind where you hate him so much. It's irrational, and even if he's for some something you support, you'll still be against him. Then there's the other form of Trump derangement syndrome, where you love him so much, that when he goes against something he said he would do, or he does something that's against your principle, you change your own principles to support him. That's just as dangerous.
The smart ones, with nuance, that is, a degree of perspicacity know not to have either.
Most of the bad things underway today would be happening no matter who is in the white house.

💯 No argument from me on that one. Trump is a symptom of the state of the U.S. Empire rather than Trump being the 'cause' of it. And yes, Trump or no Trump, as you say - many of these things would continue happening REGARDLESS of the Administration or President.
But more than Trump what scares me more is the millions of cultish members of MAGA. To take it to another level, there are 800+ million cultish members of Modi in India. This is the LARGER problem - the members of the cult - their inability to think critically (as you say above - nuance).
