People in Arizona definitely remember the Navajos. These fabulous Native Americans own and run the scenic territory of Canyon de Chelly, where thousands of visitors envy the native culture and admire their success and resourcefulness. If you imagine I'm being patronizing or insincere, not so. Go and see for yourself. What is more, there is an impressive book about the Navajos called "The Navajo Code Talkers", describing their heroic successes during WWII in designing and using a code language to foil the enemy. The Zunis of New Mexico also possess very scenic lands and are highly respected. I don't know how the Native Americans feel in other parts of the country, but those here in the southwest have pride, freedom, and land more beautiful than most of us. When I was young and down-and-out, I wished I had a "Rez" to go back to.

Yes there are books and I have read quite a few BUT as always who wrote the books?

Best way as I said above is to study their art and visit their lands.
