That the motivation for the attack on the Liberty actually was to blame Syria for the attack? Isn't it possible that there was another motive - such as that they didn't want the US intercepting their communications, & learning of their plans to invade the Golan Heights?
I agree that a false flag is very plausible - but I don't think it is certain. (And even if it was a false flag, it is more likely that Egypt would be blamed for the attack than Syria.)
