When I moved into this area most of the people were quite old, so many of them moved not that long after I came hear, and it became area with high a Indian, Arab and Muslim population and I think like many people who came to this country through many decades stuck together and still do out of of sense of feeling comfortable and safe. Yes and they do hold on to their culture and all other groups have as well, at least initially. A really good book is Working Toward Whiteness: How America's Immigrants Became White: The Strange Journey from Ellis Island to the Suburbs Paperback – December 4, 2018

by David R. Roediger (Author)
