Though I have Mohawk DNA, I reside on Chippewa land. I honor them every day by ecological land practices on my farm and I frequently visit a nearby sacred burial ground to thank them and tell them that their memory will never die. While I realize that’s insufficient MY parents had no part in the genocide of Native Americans; I am first-generation on my father’s side, and second on my mother’s.

Love it. I live in a Metis community. More people should try listening to the downtrodden or maybe walking in their shoes. For the record I am white. While I grew up in the '60's I have never touched any type of drug. I won't even take prescription drugs. While most people don't live this lifestyle I believe for me it keeps my mind sharp and allows me to see a lot that many don't.

I think you are the self righteous moron here. These are my friends and neighbours in a community that believes in helping each other. I guarantee you won't find or offer too much help involving your neighbours. Also, many of them are financially better off than we are so that line of bullshit scores no points with me. The downtrodden part is the shit they went through to get to where they are arriving at today. There are engineers, doctors, lawyers and other professionals coming out of these communities now as they learn the value of education.
At the county recorder’s office, is the land title in your name or some Mohawk or Chippewa? If some Chippewa shows up on your doorstep and tells you, “Leave now you damn colonizer!”, are you gonna skedaddle? It’s nice that your mommy and daddy made good for you on Chippewa land. Your pride in stating that your parents had nothing to do with what you call the genocide of Native Americans is an accident of your place on a timeline of history, perhaps 100 years? In Israel, there too are Jews living on land whose parents had nothing to do with what happened in 1947-49. Or today. You’re not so fussy about your land title history, but ever so fussy about land in Israel while not knowing very much of the Jews history there. That history certainly outpaces and has outlasted yours and your parents in Amerikkka.
