I began doing 'inner work' more than 40 years ago. I had long since lost faith in prayer and when I first heard mention of mediation I thought it must be another form of useless prayer. But then I studied what th eBuddha had said a bit and thought it sounds useful. And it has been useful for my clarity of thought.It amazed me to find that you can't think your way to inner clarity but you can find it by emptiness which still feels like a bit of a contradiction to me in my 95th year -but it does work.
