Suggesting your fellow Americans are to blame for the evils of politicians and industry is naive at best, disingenuous at worst. Nobody asked my opinion on going to war, nobody asked the majority of the nation about war. The people have not been "consulted" on any war in my lifetime.

They don't have to be. The system is set up so they are effectively on board. Rulers don't have to hear from them.
