I don't think hypocrisy can be used of the US government and ruling class. Hypocrisy is "the compliment which vice pays to virtue" and as such requires an ability to recognize virtue. We seem to be under a system where lying and its relatives are now the default mode of both thought and speech, and its inmates simply cannot recognize virtue because they don't belong to it in any way.
It's sad because the unwinding of such a system, such a polity, is usually very hard going for those who have to participate in it. Which might be me -- especially sad!
Good point! I never heard that about hypocrisy before. Thank you!
I have been more astonished with this round of national disinformation than even previous horrific ones around 9/11, Afghanistan and Iraq. It’s been very effective to make Russia the boogey man, silence alt news outlets, link Putin to Trump,(why not to Hillary? They were actually best buds), and toss all this and more into a rinse and spin cycle that twists up the simplest minds into a frenzied froth of nonsense.
Take it out of the machine, I say, and hang it outside in the light of the sun (truth).
I thought Covid was bad and lost friends and family over it-by them dying or thinking it was a hoax. But this Russia/Ukraine thing is as existential a risk as abrupt climate change; how have people swallowed the official story hook line and sinker baffles me.
And now I am even more baffled to find MAGA nuts agreeing with me, though I doubt their questioning of the official narrative has much to do with their keen critical skills of analysis, and more to do with what their orange leader tells them to think.
It’s a strange new territory to be in. Neither left, nor right, nor center. Just observing from above the fray. Alone. Just as the Deep State wanted us to be: divided, confused, disempowered. Fuckin’ genius monsters.

Well put on the default mode - its just lies and gaslighting everywhere. And people actually support it.
