The Bible is relevant only to followers of Christianity and Judaism. The Bible is not historical or archaeological fact and therefore it is not clear.
I believe all religious books are meant to be read as metaphor and not literal and the problems of the past few thousand years, the age of left-brain dominant patriarchy, is that they have been literalised.
I have no desire to read it myself, Roslyn, but my friend/former coworker ( a high school dropout with dyslexia) read it cover to cover and agrees that it is metaphorical.
For instance, she maintained that Lazarus was not physically dead but SPIRITUALLY dead.
There is no necessity to read the Bible but if it is read as metaphor and symbol it makes sense in ways it does not when read as literal, which reveals it to be primitive, barbaric and petty.

Can anyone imagine the 'gossip' handed down through History. All 'gossip' gets changed. How can we believe in this Book?
