I now see the clearly "Moaning about wrongs" has been increasingly, and very successfully, marketed since at least 1945, i.e. our entire lifetimes. It has profoundly shaped the modern Western establishment and cultural POV. But now stepping well beyond mere grabbing the bullhorns, complaint, and appeals for sympathy and help, so that we have of course genocide and widespread speech suppression, the latter even in the U.S. It's been overplayed, and very badly.
So I've also been thinking about the psychological stuff for a while. I often find myself thinking "This is nuts! These people are simply crazy! ...and no one is able to hold up a mirror" I'm no professional or expert, but there are certainly well-understood psychopathologies at work here, even if off the top of my head I don't know the specifics. What is it called when it is widespread as a basis through a culture, not an individual, has it?
An irony here, of course, is that they/whoever who have hammered Western Caucasians to the wall (by *race*! yet another irony vs the 1960s-70s hammer) for exactly that, the supposed cultural (and by extension individual) dysfunction do so without any true good-faith public discourse examination that would result in better nuance development, compromise where appropriate, and thus widely quiesced agreement. It just emerges fully-formed from the universities by "experts" and their attack-dog students, ripping apart society. (What is allegedly a "national discussion" is actually a "national lecture".) This refusal-to-examine is a key feature. "Oh, we're the experts, this is what we've concluded, now it's your job shut up, accept, and behave." But that obviously isn't working too well any more, even among the low-information crowd.
