Joe McCarthy was mean and a brute. That does not change the facts that he uncovered many people in government, hollywood and business that were connected politically enough to get away with their subversive agenda. Much of what we see today is do to those evil people. He was destroyed the same way others are, by forces colluding against him because it interfered with their agendas. As for your Rant about Capitalism. The politically connected crony system is not Free market Capitalism. It is a completely controlled system of Fascism ( as Mussolini stated Corporatism) with competition destroyed via political action and legislation. The propaganda to blame capitalism is similar to the argument for democracy. True Free market Capitalism would be a good thing so it is falsely denounced. Whereas democracy is no better than Socialism, communism, or other schemes. It is Mob rule. A good source for information is mises.org they have a super library much of it free. Following the consensus without actually research is a common path to the ECHO chamber. Just what our owners want.
That is what's great about America. You can have your opinion given you by the MSM. I can have mine based on extensive research, reading and study allowing me to make up my own mind. Thanks for commenting
It's interesting you assume people like myself are so ignorant of historical facts we can't tell when someone is as disingenuous as you are here.
American exceptionalism is nothing to be proud of. Nor is the crack down on free speech by the Capitalists Billionaires who believe they should run the place and no one else should have a real say about their American lives. That's why people like you (and Joe McCarthy) worked so hard to remove and censor American freedoms, not expand them.
The funny part is this is a substack comments section, moderated by Caitlin herself. That fortunately, guys like you can't censor outright, so you have to resort to other more underhanded tactics. But "underhanded" and hiding in the shadows - is what you're all about. Joe McCarthy was a man with not a shred of decency or integrity.
I have never attempted in any way to censor anyone on any platform including this one. However, your continuous attempts at slander, seem to say you would like to censor me because you disagree with my view. All you have is a repeat of the propaganda with no real discourse. Good day.
Regulated externality-free venture capitalism can be helpful; and as it is technologically possible for everyone to be fed, clothed, sheltered, interconnected, educated & doctored, the fact this is not the case is political will or lack thereof.
Then let the ambitious compete for the gravy (of course, they’ll need to compete for labour first. Many folks will be happy eating beans and rice and support their community, but there are certainly those who aspire to a higher standard of living and somewhat morediscretionary income.
Given what we see in the United States today, your statement has little to no truth to it. Free-venture capitalism has led to mass and ruthless exploitation and genocide abroad.
Actually we hardly have true capitalism (rather, profit as a derivative of negative externalities); and please note the vast chasm between regulated & taxed (my qualifiers) and free capitalism.
I don’t think we differ as much as you imagine. I see capitalism as valuable on a local scale. Large corporations, multinationals etc and rentier capitalism all need to be brought to heel or eliminated, via aggressive taxation and other regulations.

This is just your sorry attempt to rewrite history to fit a narrative that serves only the obscenely wealthy, and not ordinary Americans.

Your discourse do not deserve further comment as it is no longer relevant to C. Johnstone's channel..

True capitalism is as possible as true communism. That is, both are unreachable ideals.
But capitalism can be regulated and taxed in ways that serve the commons.
By whom?
Angels don't exist and if they did communism would work too, as that's a wonderful idea.
I like your thinking ...
