Yet today it is plain that much of what once was the Democrat party is communist, or Progressive or Socialist, liberal or whatever term they are hiding behind.
And Capitalism isn't a threat? Look at the state of the country today. The greatest wealth inequality since the gilded Robber Baron Era, top 1% of Americans now control more wealth than the bottom 90% combined. Most young Americans can no longer afford a new home or upper education. The number one reason for bankruptcy in the country is Medical debts. Our supposed Representative democracy has been completely corrupted by Wallstreet and the obscenely wealthy - Washington DC only responds to the super-wealthy and the monopolistic corporations that they control - that control a rigged non-free market.
Capitalism has drained the once vaunted wealth of the Middle Class of the US - and transferred that wealth to an obscenely relative few crazily rich sociopaths at the top.
Joe McCarthy ruined the lives of many good people. He was a rotten human being and died a lonely drunk.

It is a completely controlled system of Fascism ( as Mussolini stated Corporatism) with competition destroyed via political action and legislation. Whereas democracy is no better than Socialism, communism, or other schemes. It is Mob rule. A good source for information is mises.org they have a super library much of it free. Regulated externality-free venture capitalism can be helpful; and as it is technologically possible for everyone to be fed, clothed, sheltered, interconnected, educated & doctored, the fact this is not the case is political will or lack thereof.

I don’t think we differ as much as you imagine. I see capitalism as valuable on a local scale. Large corporations, multinationals etc and rentier capitalism all need to be brought to heel or eliminated, via aggressive taxation and other regulations.

The "One-Party-Two-Faces" problem is independent of "funding". It existed even before the "Citizens United" case. i.e. "Citizens United" is not a causal variable (and not even a relevant variable) in the uni-party representation of American politics.
"One-Party-Two-Faces" is an evolution of US political realities partly due to the growing ties and shared values and goals of the ruling power elite in an effort to preserve a status quo that is increasingly under attack from other socio-economic classes.
To be fair, RFK Jr wasn't in politics during the McCarthy Era.
But his Dad was, and RFK was a particularly toadying follower of McCarthy. No, that's not to tar Jr with the sins of his father.
