You think they act this way because they are independent and afraid ? As part of google and alphabet they are part of the US machine, youtube is not innocent in any of this with my guess being that it was specifically involved in the planning of it.
I know that YouTube is Google, but it presents itself as open and free if users don’t subscribe. The decision to abide by the fascist dictat to ban Brand, could have been disobeyed, and it might have triggered someone’s termination, and THAT would draw further negative attention to the real function of the widely used surveillance program.
