Out of habit and wishful thinking I do still actively demand of my politicians daily. But surely you know that our government has been taken over by ruthless multinational corporations and arms manufacturers making staggering profits on endless wars. Follow the stock markets for a dose of reality. We live in a raping and pillaging oligarchy tumbling quickly toward fascism. Representatives, any more than the so called "Supreme Court" don't exactly listen, or even if some of the good ones do listen, their hands are tied (or they've been bought, threatened, blackmailed etc.) and cannot ACT on their principles. I do very much admire your ideals and share them. The reality we are facing and the unspeakable terror and grief we are witnessing our brothers and sisters in Palestine enduring is beyond horrifying and heartbreaking. I can understand the entire range of responses in these comments.
I’m posting a link to a recent reply I made where my remarks intersect with some of yours.
We are in substantial agreement on other matters also, though I don’t explore them here.
I also address the ‘how’ to address this barbarity, a query put to me above which I address only now.
I regard it as axiomatic that current forms of governance in so-called ‘Western style democracies’ are proven failures and offer no way forward to address our monstrous crimes.
As I see it, it is necessary to leave behind what does not serve, and form new structures to do what must be done.
I couldn't agree more. And I don't know, cannot yet know, how it will happen, what structures will emerge to try these barbaric criminals, but I believe it will happen, that it must happen. I just received this substack which I've only skimmed, but it has some new (to me) ideas that you might find it interesting.
Certainly I know all of that. I also know that making a solid, persistent, large scale statement about what's expected cannot be ignored. But the values do have to be asserted in coherent and linked fashion, not piecemeal and definitely not based in gooshy feelings while actually undermining the law.m

This is probably the sanest, the most lucid comment on this thread. Thank you.
Well stated.

You are most welcome. Read this website daily for the perspective and programme needed.
The WSWS is the end of political illiteracy.

What are you demanding of your politicians?
