I agree the two don't always come together in one person: political acumen and oratory. I watch George's MOATS show pretty regularly, his opening monologues are often spot on, and he consistently has some good guests. I like him more than say, Tucker Carlson. But like any strong personality, will often come strong positions you may not agree with. I'm somewhat surprised with both George's and Chris Hedge's religious "Christian" faith - given their intellectual stature - that both of them share. Given the mythological underpinnings of the faith which are clearly obvious to anyone who has read a number of books on the subject and approaches is it with a measure of intellectual objectivity. Not that Christianity does not have some human wisdom and moral depth to it - it certainly has, but many of the stories should not be taken literally, in the New Testament, and the Old.

That's not to say the new snobbery that now dominates our current academic/intellectual milieu - of reductive materialism and militant atheism also lacks a good amount of objectivity. The nature of consciousness itself has not yet been resolved, despite the often unsubstantiated article of faith of the Materialists that consciousness is only a product of the brain and nothing more.
