She’s arguing that the real power of the empire benefits from a bellicose narcissist who hoodwinks folks with lots of anger, because while the pro Trump and anti Trump argue, the DP has morphed into a proud authoritarian enforcement party. Clinton had Gingrich, Obama had Ted Cruz and Paul Ryan. Hillary was too obvious a Republican to win against the dimwit running against the corrupt establishment, of which he is a major beneficiary.

You don't get it. The Trump phenomenon ENABLES that drift, doesn't cause it. If there were no Trump they'd have DeSantis do it... they actually had Bush and Cheney play the same role, and now are embracing them.
No I'm not saying that. I never cited Trump as the reason the DP plowed right. The two parties play off one another's identity tropes. Abortion rights vs deregulation of air and water standards, and so on. When Clinton made the DP a corporate tool like the RP, that's when the rightward march began in earnest.
