I think being ashamed of being Zionist makes sense. I know lots of Jewish people who are not Zionist and who do not support what Israel is doing. I am not Jewish and I don't really like any religion much. Zionism is not a religion. It is a sick ideology. Like Nazism.
Problem is not what "Israel is doing", but rather that "Israel" exists in the first place, as its entire concept is an openly discriminatory and bigoted apartheid state that assembles jews teaches them a supremacist doctrine, and enlists them in an armed struggle to disposess and subjugate people it designates as "untermenschen". That's fascism really.
So if any jewish people care, then they need to first support that Israel as a fascist concept should no longer exist to begin with. Not the fake hand wringing over a fascist apartheid state, doing well....what fascist apartheid states do.
I don't know if it's possible to be ashamed of being a Zionist and stay Zionist (ideologically, at least; you can be ashamed of Zionist actions and continue them).
