There is an excellent Michael Moore documentary the title escapes me where he interviews young African Americans on the reasons for joining the military. They reveal the devils choice - if you come from an impoverished drug ridden housing project with no hope of a decent job or an education or proper healthcare and this is all offered for free by the American military and the alternative is drugs and zero opportunity what do you end up doing?
This has been done by design. I used to drive across large portions of the country, had relatives all over and you could see whole towns go under. They even purposely closed the off ramps on freeways to cause this to happen.
Even if you feel you were forced into the military, doesn't remove the fact that you still hold some responsibility in partaking in a war that you know rationally has no moral underpinnings.
And the idea that war is inevitable and you have no other choice but to kill other human beings is the Big Lie. You always have a choice. Always.
