I'm afraid you're right about Modi and that scares me a little. He is always looking for an excuse to pick on the Muslims and this may be the spark he wants. With my public activism over the last couple of years, and herself here on a green card, I'm a little worried about our longevity in the U.S. I'm actively looking into a possible Canadian citizenship certificate application due to my mother's father being a Canadian citizen. I thought about Ireland but with their housing and health care issues, I think Canada may be a better option. Ideally, we want to stay where we are but, if the U.S. government decides to come after us someday, I want to have a quick option.
As for the English, I grew up on stories of the IRA and the Irish republicans, and joined up, sort of, back in the early 1980's during the troubles. The U.S. government took a dim view of that and told me so, by way of the FBI in 1983. It didn't stop me, it just sent me underground until after the signing of The Good Friday Agreement.
I had occasion to be stationed with some English military and seeing English tourists in Europe during my long career in the U.S. military and those interactions just reinforced my long hatred for all things English. The U.K. even banned me from being stationed or traveling through any U.K. ports of entry for years. I lost an assignment to Scotland in 1980 because of my ethnicity. I was told I couldn't get a visa to visit the North of Ireland back then. That I would be detained by British customs if I were passing through Heathrow airport during those years, even on official U.S. military duties.

My wife is from China, so with everything that is going on between Trump and China right now, we're watching Homeland Security very carefully right now.
