Thanks RB…I thought faulty posts were indelible! 😭

Yes, you can delete them and if there were no replies then they go without a trace. But if somebody did, then the "deleted" stub remains, and the replies are left hanging with no context.

I tend to delete mine when they are "leafed" to such deleted comments as they stop making sense.

Also, it might be unfair to those who already replied, to just go and edit your comment. That could totally ruin the repliers' intents. In such cases one could just add something clearly marking it as EDIT, UPDATE, or something.

It would be nice if the comment software would mark entries accordingly, so a reply could be traced back to the entry which inspired it. If poor old USENET could do that, why not this slick software?

It's far from optimal indeed.

As to your complaint - if you mean, in a deeply nested tree, being able to find a comment a particular reply is to, then you can just click on a vertical line going up from the reply. That will collapse all the previous comments and their replies and bring the interesting comment up much closer to the replied to one.

Hope I made sense there...

Yes. My vision is far from optimal so I missed that line. Thanks!
