Thousands of Jewish-led protesters descended on the New York offices of the American Israel Public Affairs Council on Thursday, taking aim at both AIPAC and Democratic lawmakers who take millions of combined dollars from the lobby group while opposing a Gaza cease-fire.
Led by Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP), the demonstrators marched from Dag Hammarskjöld Plaza outside the United Nations—where earlier this week the U.S. for the third time vetoed a Security Council cease-fire resolution—to AIPAC's nearby New York headquarters on Third Street.
During the march, protesters carried large letters spelling "DUMP AIPAC" and a banner reading "AIPAC Funds Genocide," as well as signs listing the names of New York Democrats who take campaign cash from the group while opposing a Gaza cease-fire. Members of Congress named and shamed at the rally include House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries ($829,835 in lifetime AIPAC contributions), Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand ($348,818), and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer ($101,570).
I wish these protests were given prominent coverage. There are powerful voices in the Jewish community who have said from the beginning—Not in My Name.
It’s really shocking to see the lack of coverage of these protests. Thousands of people are marching globally, facing police who are sending them to the hospital - but you wouldn’t know this if you read any mainstream news reporting. Reuters might write it up - but none of the networks choose to broadcast it. This week, this happened near my home: https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/police-beatings-pro-palestinian-schoolchildren-spark-outrage-italy-2024-02-23/
Seven women are on record stating Joe Biden inappropriately fondled them. I often brought this up along with mentioning "Tara Reade" during the #MeToo feeding frenzy at the time. Always got *crickets*.
Yep. When Tara made her accusation against Biden the me too movement died. The believe all women became believe some women and it’s okay to say horrible things about some women. The hypocrisy was so huge that even the shitlibs should have seen it.
The hypocrisy invalidated the entire movement, since the real motive was not really about women - but about destroying your political opponents or anyone else who got in your way.
ps: Not saying some good didn't come out of it - some pretty heinous men did end up where they belonged. But the good that came out of it was for the wrong reasons and arbitrarily applied.
Right. Like a monstrous, hideous infant. King Baby has no impulse control or ability to “behave” himself. He’s permanently stuck in the oral stage…er, um, maybe the anal stage is more appropriate at this phase of his life.
AIPAC is both party’s not so secret, dirty secret. Democrats and Repukes both feed at that trough; although I suspect the Dems of taking more. AIPAC money and the checkbooks of wealthy Jewish campaign donors, are what keep this country locked in an embrace with Israel.
"During his 36 years in the Senate, Biden was the chamber's biggest recipient in history of donations from pro-Israeli groups, taking in $4.2 million, according to the Open Secrets database."
Mintpress" Alan McDode (?) wrote about this last month. He showed who were the ones who got the most money from AIPAC. Sorry I didn’t save the link and sorry if I got his last name wrong.
You might also find Mark Hertsgaard’s “On Bended Knee,” to be informative. It was written even longer ago than Mershimer’s book, and helps show this is embedded, and has been, deeply in our so-called free press.
I've been wondering about a couple of things. Maybe AIPAC should be compelled to register as a foreign agent, given that it is dedicated to furthering the foreign state of Israel?
And whether this blind support, given in the form of unconditional aid, to Isreal, might not just contravene the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment. I found this commentary, "Virtually all jurists agree that it would violate the Establishment Clause for the government to compel attendance or financial support of a religious institution as such..." Couldn't the current situation be construed as compelling financial support of a religious institution (Israel)? I think we need more novel approaches to this issue.
Seems like someone has to try and get this enforced. Who might that be? Can someone sue them? IDK. Same with getting 18 U.S. Code § 1091 enforced. I think a Writ of Mandamus could be applied for, but who can do that? I am not in the US. Are there people, or organizations there who could take this on? Just asking, and hope others will think about and ask these, and other questions, leading to actions on multiple fronts.
Was just thinking about same…Human Rights Watch and other respected orgs should sue…though doesn’t it speak VOLUMES that the American Medical Assn will not even call for the protection of health care workers, much less call for a ceasefire. It’s all unconscionable…but suing appears the only path. We won’t get Rs and Ds to reject all that money, those bloodthirsty selfish shitheads.
In 2018, The Washington Post ran an article titled “The dark roots of AIPAC, ‘America’s Pro-Israel Lobby’". The article was subtitled: "The group was formed to spin positive PR after Israeli atrocities”. Written by Professor Doug Rossinow, it focused on the formation of AIPAC (America Israel Political Action Committee), originally called AZPAC (America Zionist Political Action Committee). The article focuses on the Israeli massacre of Palestinians in the village of Qibya in 1953:
“In the fall of 1953, Eisenhower briefly suspended the delivery of U.S. aid to Israel after it violated the terms of a U.N.-brokered armistice agreement with Syria by venturing into a demilitarized zone to try to divert the waters of the Jordan River…. But on Oct. 15, 1953, all hell broke loose. News spread that a special Israeli army unit had struck into the Jordanian-occupied West Bank and committed a massacre in the Palestinian village of Qibya, killing more than 60 civilians indiscriminately in retaliation for the murder of a Jewish woman and her two children in Israel on the night of Oct. 12....The strike reflected Israeli policy. Ever since the end of the 1948 war, Palestinians had frequently crossed the so-called “Green Line” into Israel. Most had been driven or had fled from their homes in what was now Israel and simply wished to return. But some committed violence against Israelis. Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion had fixed on a policy of reprisals — military assaults, intentionally disproportionate, on local Arab populations — as a response to any such attacks. After the Oct. 12 killings, Ben-Gurion and top colleagues chose nearby Qibya to suffer retribution.”
AZPAC (later AIPAC) was formed to deal with the American public outrage after the Qibya massacre.
As Ecclesiastes tells us, there is nothing new under the sun.
Imagine WaPo running this article today. Imagine Biden suspending military aid to Israel.
thanks Jack for posting info on that article and the quote which I just now got to read online WP archive!! cannot imagine that rag publishing such today...nor NYT or TIME...but giving new life to that article i've reposted it on social media thanks to you! cheers
Thank you for sharing that. I'd missed that one. Jewish Voice for Peace is perhaps the most visible reason that Zionism is a completely different thing from either Judaism or Jews.

Even during America's Middle Eastern war craze, marches yes, but the coverage had a short life.

Biden has taken over $4 million from AIPAC and he has gotten the most out of anyone else.
Shitlibs are still saying that republicans are on Putin’s payroll, but not once have I seen them call out Israel.
Seven women are on record stating Joe Biden inappropriately fondled them. I often brought this up along with mentioning "Tara Reade" during the #MeToo feeding frenzy at the time. Always got *crickets*.

Yeah, but Trump grabs pussies! He's a pussy grabber!
Did he take showers with Ivanka? No? That's right, because he's a pervert - he grabs pussies of strange women.
Trump was a frequent flyer on the Lolita Express. He's no champion of women. But the hypocrisy by the shitlibs was indeed sickening.
Was I defending Trump?
Trump is gay, it's all a form
of bragging about what never happened

I recall a Trump remark to the effect he thought Ivanka was hot and would fuck her if she wasn't his daughter.

AIPAC is plenty dirty, but hardly a secret.
Do you have a source for that information? I'd like to spread it.

A very good book on the lobby is written by John Mearshimer called the Israel Lobby, even though written in 2007. Good Read.
You might also find Mark Hertsgaard’s “On Bended Knee,” to be informative. It was written even longer ago than Mershimer’s book, and helps show this is embedded, and has been, deeply in our so-called free press.
Thanks, I'll into that.
Interesting, didn't know that about Reagan.
Thanks for the suggestion Joy. Seems like an interesting read.
yeah, Reagan got the velvet glove treatment.
Yes I saw

Exactly my thought earlier this week. Why doesn’t AIPAC have to register as a foreign agent? And why are their campaign contributions allowed??

Can you imagine how much shit would be hittin’ the fan if Russia or China were buying the US Congress?
As to the first question, corruption and bribery.
As to the second, also corruption and bribery.
Joy, Scott Ritter has been saying that on every video.
Great idea.
