Isn't it interesting the cognitive dissonance it takes to put those two things together. What kind of God would expect you to commit genocide in order to reach salvation?

Your question opens up a can of worms.

It causes one to take a look at the "God".... the "God' these folks worship and how is it that this "God" would support, approve and even "assist" in a genocide.

If you really, really want to know the answer.... well, that "God" said I have created man in my image...... That God killed a bunch of people, thousands maybe millions in the book that "God" speaks from.

The Paradox and contradiction of that "God" is in the Holy Book that that "God" speaks from.

He is great and powerful "God" who will destroy his enemies one and all through various means of which many were genocidal. Whole towns wiped out, whole nations wiped out by that "God" who created man in his image. Yet that same "God" seems to be merciful and willing to care for the meek and the innocent. Is this "God" schizophrenic? How does this "God" save a nation yet allow its only begotten son to die for sins yet to be committed?

I really think that we have to look at the socialization a belief system has on a people. If a person professes that their book is sacred, and that their God is "the" God of all, and then you further that with the believers wanting to be "like" their god or at least "children" of that God, well like they say, the apple doesn't fall that far away from the tree.

If a person worships a vengeful, genocidal "God" and then couples that with dogma about how merciful and gracious that "God" is, I can only surmise that it would have a tremendous psychological distortion for any individual who "worships" that "God". One thing that is for sure.... whoever worships "that" God will want desperately, to be "chosen" because when he loses his temper, all bets are off... I'm just saying.

Look at the logic, the self-regulatory sophistication of the biosphere [barring humans] the absence of any single species dominating and over-consuming or over-producing: production, consumption, recycling continual and balanced [if decoupled from human interference] -- those are the qualities one would expect from a brilliant god-like mind. But a god with human qualities -- a narcissist, greedy, angry, anthropomorphic god?? Awww shit, GTFOH, with that crap. Sorry Michelangelo, but that old a-hole you painted on the Sistine chapel ought to be nuked.

It's so ironic. In the Abrahamic attempt towards Monotheism and to derail paganism.. they just did the same thing.. with their anthropomorphic rendition of God. Then they took the most vicious god and made him the "only" God. They couldn't even get rid of the rituals of animal sacrifice. It's so funny to me to watch monotheists claim they worship one God, but their rituals are so similar to what pagans do. You can take the ritual out of the pagan but you can't take the pagan out of the ritual. Not gonna happen.

At least pagans have a choice of gods. LOL. The quiet part that is never said out loud, is that pagans always knew there IS only "ONE" divine force, it just expresses itself through various entities. Makes sense since it is all-in-all, it would be in everything, everywhere.

The one in the bible, reminds me of Ogun in the tradition of the Orisha, of Nigeria, West Africa. Lord have mercy, you don't want to get him riled up. He has no mercy when angered... and needs tons of appeasement to calm him down. He's had to go into the forest to cool off and realize, you just don't go into a fit of anger and wipe out whole nations!

There are probably correlative "gods" in other traditions world wide.

I'm an atheist. To your points about inconsistencies in "revealed" faith, one of the primary reasons for atheism was my realization that:

(1) if the (Abrahamic) God were truly as advertised -- all-powerful, all knowing, *and* all-loving -- none of this redemption rigamarole outlined over thousands of pages, with untold numbers of godmongers arguing with each other for thousands of years, would be necessary. He/She/They/It would instead endow all people with the knowledge and temperament necessary to behave as desired, and thus live happily forever in peace.

Instead, I'm confronted with endless questions about inexplicable inconsistencies and downright stupidities (to take a tiny number off the top of my head) such as: Why in the world did God create (supposed) "free will"? I mean, He could (and still can) create *anything* He wants, right? Is He a masochist? Such that for thousands of years now He is left biting His nails with worry and sadness, yet ironically ready to *torture* scads people in the afterlife for failing his Jesus-crucifixion payback test. Why does He even need this bean-counting, a God who has everything? Is He a sadist? And don't even get me started on the shit-in-your-face-level insult of the Doubting Thomas tale, or even better, "You must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil" I mean, is comment even necessary here? The hucksters who wrote this were laughing in your faces, knowing what dupes most of us can be!! It simply leaves one screaming, "What is wrong with this picture? Why does this stuff even exist for supposedly sane people???" No, it's NOT that his intentions and desires are inscrutable -- he gave us (if you'll pardon the expressions) THE goddam MANUAL, for chrissakes! Etc., etc., etc. "But you can't fool all of the people, all of the time."

So.... instead,

(2) Occam's razor makes it clear to me that: The situation we find ourselves in, for thousands of years now with continually warring peoples, uses a bubble-gum & bailing-wire pasted-together Frankenstein's monstrosity of explanations, likely by dozens of (non-divine) people. That is, scripture didn't float down from heaven, perfectly organized, written by the fetal-soul of, say, Shakespeare in the The King's English (er, Aramaic), as one might expect a God worthy of the name to do. Hence, it is bound to include material that -- as you point out -- "would have a tremendous psychological distortion for any individual who 'worships' that 'God'". Nevertheless, societies need this (and can't make changes on the fly to "sacred scripture" without raising eyebrows) to keep the hoi polloi from freaking out, over the myriad modern (i.e. Agri Age onward) consequences of the much-longer-running evolution-developed general belief in the supernatural, originally to maintain mental health while their brains grew.

Tragic thing is, modern humans haven't found a superior substitute yet for supernatural beliefs, one that works for entire populations. So "revealed" religion is once again on the rise :/

i'm pretty convinced the hoi polloi doesn't need it at all, but it's pretty useful for those rich dudes.

The regular folks need *something*, or they'll regress (many, as I noted, with religion) ... and in any case most of us *will* rebel. That's a problem for the lazy-ass rich dudes who haven't come up with something yet...

So I'm afraid they're instead counting on (a) smothering most of us into compliance using sufficient A.I. (A.G.I. is not at all necessary), (b1) killing the uncooperative useless eaters with [nano]robots, diseases, etc. etc., and (b2) hiding in their bunkers until the smoke/fallout/etc. clears.

I wonder how “smart” these planner really are because unless they have some anti-aging contraptions in those bunkers, or maybe simulation pods they can lie in for thousands of years, the nuclear fall-out they are playing with will have centuries to clear itself, and then, even more centuries before the earth to regenerate itself. But perhaps they have that covered. Deep inside their underground bunkers are space ships that will rocket propel their arses to other planets, perhaps with Elon on their way to mars? I wonder if they will take a few undocumented workers with them, for surely they are not at all able to take care of themselves.

I think it's more likely they intend to kill vast numbers of us, and it may include wars (WW III) with threats of nukes etc. But they will, in the end, not use environmental poisons to do so (no atmospheric sprays, bio weapons, nukes, etc.), so as to preserve a relatively healthy earth. Hence, the COVID protocol test-run was done to attempt the forcing of universal invasive access to everyone's body.

Good points, but the wars they engage in are doing massive damage to the eco-system of this planet.

I think they are also doing the slow fizzle on humanity as well. The Jab will have long term effects but so does every one of the 70+ jabs they are giving to children here in the USA.

Then we have the air, water, and food.

A relatively healthy earth is probably inside the bunkers. Green houses filled with organic food, animals not shot up with hormones and vaccines and maybe their own artificial sun. Throw in a little AI robots for good measure and they are comfortable for a good while. Besides, I’ve seen it in the movies, LOL.
