The families of those hostages are going crazy because they KNOW about this policy. The Hannibal Directive. There is little hope. And. I am certain that Hamas is trying to keep the hostages alive in spite of bombing and very very little food or medical care available for anyone.
I've heard of the Hannibal directive and don't think or maybe they say it no longer is implemented. Who knows, who trusts them? I really think they knew before hand that Hamas was going to implement an attack but dismissed warnings several times and one could question their motives behind that. I usually go to Aljazeera everyday but I didn't see that headline. It's surprising they are overt about selling off Palestinian land in the West Bank. It's been decades of treating them badly. Abbas is very ineffectual. he was basically ignored since he wanted a 2 state solution. Life I read is pretty miserable there and there is a concerted effort to remove people from their land. I guess you feel you have a free hand when you see them as animals, as gallant called them, and I don't think the use of that word was due to the October 7 attacks, but how they are viewed. If you view people in that light you have a free hand to imprison them for years without charges, steal their land, run them off their land, kill them. I'm glad I don't live there.
