Not sure if anyone can answer your question but consider this.
Humans are animals and evolved by the same principle as all other animals. Nature (our DNA) has a built in mechanism for controlling and preventing overpopulation. Plagues and wars are two methods that control population of humans. Right now humans are like lemmings running towards the cliff. We should be able to control it but can't. It's in our genes and that's just the way it is.
If we could get over our arrogance as a species that we are superior we could probably change the outcome. Mother nature will always win, for better or worse.
So I guess my answer is, there's nothing wrong with us-it's just what we are. It's also a miracle we've made it as far as we have.
I'm not sure what you mean by pushing the narrative. Darwinism?
I read all the links and am going to download the rest. Thanks. We're in a trio of brave new world, animal farm and surpassed 1984 to varying degrees. Wonder if these are on the banned book list?
Given the links, do you think it's coincidence that John Hopkins is "researching" psylocibin as a cure for PTSD, anxiety and depression, and it's function is to "enhance suggestibility"? And psylocibin is being legalized as well as cannabis and the country was flooded with Rx opioids?
I'm surrounded by people who use hallucinogens (Ayahuasca LSD and mushrooms) and if we get the entire country on them we're in lots and lots of trouble. Great way to escape from reality. I just wish the blue aliens or talking trees would give us some solutions to our problems. Haven't heard any tho.....
Course I might be wrong, maybe Einstein, Oppenheimer and all the rest used mushrooms.......
We're nothing but animals, living a slightly advanced animal existence.
It's a dog eat dog, eat or be eaten world out there and that's all we have to look forward to. So go for the gusto! Grab as much as you can while you are still able to. Eat, drink and be merry for tomorrow we die.
There is no God. You have no soul. There is nothing beyond this extremely limited framework. The Perennial Philosophy passed down through the ages is nothing more than naive superstition not worth looking into...
Maybe your children's, children's, children will live in the Technological Utopia we promised you but maybe not.
That's the narrative that's been foisted on us.
Darwinism works to explain a certain segment of life on earth but as a means of explaining all of existence, it falls decidedly short.
I hope you take no offence, but that sounds like a cop-out. Every species has the means to survive - unless there is a sudden negative change in the ecosphere. We are responsible for sudden changes in the environment and are intelligent enough to know it. It is a matter of special interests : the extremely wealthy - but not over-smart - who think they can build their own, protective ecosphere are the main problem, along with those who profit directly from this agenda.
No, I don't take offense. But I think you should give it some more thought and consideration. Would you feel better if I had concluded with "But we shouldn't give up trying to change things for the better." ? You asked a question and I supplied an answer which is probable. I could say that we are being led by psycho paths and leave it at that but I ask, if this is true why are the majority following them? Propaganda? Lack of intelligence or inability to think for themselves? Don't confuse intelligence with psychopathic tendencies. Psychopaths can be extremely intelligent. "Human nature" for lack of a better term is what it is. Capitalism by definition will bring about it's own collapse. "Human nature" may do the same to humans.
As far as climate change or whatever you like to call it, my stance is we live on a planet with finite resources and should be conserving rather than raping. Eventually we run out of resources. Lowering co2 emissions will not stop pollution, it may increase it. Humans evolved on this planet and are adapted to it. Paradise in a word. For those who think Mars is a solution, I'd love to see them survive in Antarctica for a few years totally cut off from the rest of the world. And that would be a paradise compared to Mars. So it's best to protect what we have here I think.
"Every species has the means to survive -..." Is partially true but millions have gone extinct for other reasons like overconsumption of food resources for one. And consider that humans have brought all this upon themselves in the last hundred years. The quest for better and more. Science is far from perfect. It's what has brought us to where we are and we keep relying on it to solve the very problems it creates. Enough is never enough.
And a final question for you - Do you think we have enough time remaining to "wake people up"? Right now they're in an illusionary dream and when they wake up it'll be to a nightmare. Do you think they want to wake up?
Psychopaths are, by definition, unusual. They are not the norm. If they were we wouldn't notice them because there would be no anomaly: what they do would seem quite acceptable. But that isn't the case. It's our way of life, our educational and belief systems that are at fault. Why do people believe crazy, destructive religious beliefs? Usually out of fear of the next world and hellfire, while this world and life turns into hell. We are intelligent enough to solve and or prevent our problems, but that intelligence is mixed with superstition. They start early instilling bullshit, often even before school age. Do we have the time to reverse all the harm? I hope so, but it doesn't seem likely. That is the tragedy of humanity - and planet Earth.
My pessimistic attitude stems from the fact that I've been trying to "wake" people up for the last 20 years and haven't been able to change one person's mind. Not to say that some haven't been awake out of the people I've known.but they've been few. And not all of those shared the same political or religious beliefs as me. But we could still have a discussion and consider the other opinion and even change opinions after discussing it. That's all changed drastically for the worse in the last 20 years. For the last 40 years things have been on the decline in the US. The driving force was Reaganomics. It goes back further to 1913 and the income tax and federal reserve system. But in 2000 the internet got into full swing and we had y2k when the government tapped all our communication. You are probably old enough to remember party lines for telephones. Well now the old biddy listening in to the gossip is the federal government. Y2K was total bs for the reasons given. It was a fabricated lie to install hardware and software in the network system. Then 1 year later 911 and the Patriot Act and Homeland Security. Homeland=Fatherland (Hitler), the Patriot Act removed all our constitutional rights and 911 as a date to remind people of an emergency. Brilliant word play you have to admit. Shrub2 was selected by the supreme court. Then the AIG economic collapse where everyone's money just disappeared without a trace and the government bailed them out. The Iraq war initially called Operation Iraqi Liberation (OIL). Need I go on since it just gets worse? It's all been accomplished in plain sight and literally shoved in our faces. And to point out the obvious you get labeled a conspiracy theorist or a doomsayer. Our country has been turned into an Auschwitz camp with no barbed wire. Enhanced techniques from Hitler and the Third Reich. Welcome to the Fourth Reich, courtesy of the military industrial complex. What else would Nazi fascists want for an industrial base?
Optimism is good but realism is better. Humanity is being shaped and tailored slowly by the powers that be. Eugenics on a massive scale is probably the best description. Maybe genocide is better since it's been done in the past to great success.
Here we are on Caitlins substack where the vast majority agree with everything thing she writes including myself. But I've not seen one plan of action for righting the problems other than waking people up. Talking isn't working. It's time to start planning. Running out of food, fuel and shelter are going to be the wake up and that's soon to come as the US government is doing everything it can to hasten it. So I feel sorry for the younger generation so (and Good Kitty) who will bear the consequences since there is nothing they can do to realistically change it. There are too many barriers in the way and the attacks on Americans are accelerating now by the day.
Superstition? Superstition is just one of the tools used supplemented with fear. Religion is steeped in it. For those who no longer believe in Angels and Demons they have been replaced by space aliens as saviours or the cause of our problems to shift the focus. The National Enquirer and Midnight Globe have been elevated to a congressional committee investigation of UAPs. Reality is whatever the government makes it. A Shrub II agenda. And let's put all the research from mk ultra into practice and flood the US with drugs to help out propagating the propaganda. Legalize them and let the people do it willingly. According to John Hopkins university, psylocibin works best.
Like cellphones so they can track us, know what we say and think and our social network. As Snowden said it's all about control. We're all on a sinking boat and our government is drilling holes in the bottom to let the water out.
So in the end we're not any different than cattle or sheep that have been domesticated for slaughter. A few are still wild and free but the majority are ready to go willingly but unknowingly to the slaughter house. If they were let free they wouldn't know what to do.
Yeah, I'm old enough to remember, and the memories are like a heavy weight on my spirit. Things like 9/11- what was that? Who could believe the narrative? But it's a sacred lie and can't be discussed with any skepticism. Something like the last name, Rich, in connection with some Hillary servers? I was instructed by a blogger online, never to mention that name.

Well, that's the narrative that's been pushed on us for the last hundred years or so.
I guess they've done a pretty good job of convincing us...

We have been intentionally led to believe... whatever they have wanted us to believe.
But perhaps, just perhaps, there is much more to us than meets the eye...
