I do indeed prize evidence, logic, rationality and integrity very highly. I'm not sure I would say I worship them or allow myself to be led by them. I mostly follow my gut; but I do enjoy it when this is backed up by the gods of intellectual pursuits.
There are no gods of intellectual pursuits, there are humans that are well educated, they are not morally or ethically superior just intellectually. The Catholic church's pedophilia problem should be a huge glaring example of why we should not look to humans to have the best interest of humanity in their hearts regardless of the number of degrees they have.
