Who is we? There is no we, meaning there is no consensus as you imply by using the word we.
Let's use a hypothetical. A mother and father raise their child conventionally according to contemporary standards of parenting and said child becomes a scientist and ultimately a toxicologist. Eventually said child is employed as a toxicologist for the state of West Virginia and is approached by Dupont and persuaded to set the state legal limit for PFOA and PFAS in drinking water at 70 parts per billion when in fact Dupont's own internal memos per their internal studies reveal 5 parts per billion is detrimental to human health. Dupont persuades your child to do this just prior to a crucial court case where Dupont will be on the hook for criminal behavior and setting this legal limit where none existed prior will help Dupont avoid responsibility for the harm it has done.
The parents of this "successful" scientist have failed even though they did everything right by the book. The system is rotten so every parent who feeds their child into it, and the more successful that child is within the system in accordance with how the system measures success, is a failure.
So, it's no consolation of course, but I'm not alone. As a parent within the system, you are an accomplice to the rot and cold evil by not only contributing to it per your career to varying degrees but also by sacrificing your children to it.
