Historians Will and Ariel Durant published a short book, The Lessons of History, approximately 60 years ago. It’s worth reading. Free PDF versions are available online.

Throughout Western history of the past 5000 years, whenever the inequality of wealth and power accrue to small cadre at the expense and suffering of the masses, the masses eventually revolt and overthrow the oppressors. That’s existentially necessary for the oppressed masses.

One big difference, today, is that the Earth cannot sustain a human population of 8 Billion persons, indefinitely. A related big difference is climate catastrophe that may or may not address the excess population issue.
