It's true that the 2 main parties have made it absurdly difficult to introduce a viable 3rd party candidate. I would agree that "democracy" in the US is in dire straits, maybe even to the point of calling it a fraud.
I also think choosing Putin or Xi over the unelected backroom boys funded by oligarchs running the US is the same sort of Hobson's choice as the choice between the Democrat and Republican candidates. As Caitlin points out over and over, its time to choose a new path for the country, for the human race, and for the whole planet.
