' As soon as these sadistic lunatics cross the tripwire and go into Lebanon, that's all she wrote for the Israelis.' Well that depends on who the tripwire is connected to Jamenta. Israel has crossed the Amerikan Red Line into Jafah and nothing happened. But if the Tripwire triggers a widespread uprising in surrounding Arab countries, that would benefit US dominance in the region and the M.I.C.

Of course, that might also mean the extinction of of Israel and most of humanity with it.. Surely these people know not what they do!

Hello David. The state of the US can be pretty much summed up with what we saw in the last debate: two elderly old men arguing over their golf handicaps oblivious to the world around them. It's no longer the 1950s, and the US no longer is the superpower it imagines itself to be. The only card left the US has to play, is to blow up the world along with itself. And that's the only card Israel has left: the Samson option. And don't think the rest of the world doesn't know it, and hasn't prepared if either Israel or the US tries to do so.

The US has been spending a trillion dollars a year on its military. But it's China and Russia that now have in their possession hypersonic missile capabilities - the US doesn't know how to build them. We got two astronauts currently trapped on the space station that the other superpowers will no longer support because of US unending belligerence. So just like Genocide Joe and Donald Trump, who have made themselves rich - like the corrupt, bloated US military industrial complex, neither would survive in an actual fight. The US military along with NATO are corrupt, decrepit organizations that now only know how to terrorize civilian populations at best. If the US or NATO ever walked into the ring with the other superpowers today, their asses would be handed back to them. For numerous reasons: 1) lack of production capability, 2) inferior missile technology, 3) inferior drone technology 4) inferior command and control structures, 5) corrupt, incompetent leadership

I didn't bother to watch the 'debate' ( it was televised here of course - many Australian just hoover up anything Amerika ) because as Caitlin has repeatedly said Presidents don't run the Empire. Zaphod Beeblebrox put it very neatly: the President doesn't have any power. The Presidents' job is to draw attention away from the Power.

The Empire is owned and controlled by apparent psychopaths playing "The Great Game" and I can't see them not coming to the aid of Israel in the event of a ME uprising.

My greatest fear is that if they look like losing the game, they may choose the classic abusers response "If I can't have you, no-one can" and play that nuclear card - as you say, it's about all they've got left.

Let's not forget, we're not talking about sane, rational people here.

I was not planning to watch the debate as well. But while I was perusing the Internet - spending way more time than I ought (as usual) - one of the news sites I visited actually had the debate live. I was surprised, as I was expecting the debate to be exclusively televised. So curiosity got the better of me, and I clicked the link.

This was about 20 minutes in, so I missed the B-Reel gags of Joe Biden's dementia addled responses. But found myself watching more as the debate format suited my tastes rather than in the past when the corporate news anchors acted as if they were part of the debate as well, or you just had one of 10 people talking over each other whenever they could.

Needless to say, I didn't think Genocide Joe did well. But I was surprised just how large the aftershocks were, including diehard loyalists now saying the guy was not all there. Well duh ...

Yeah, I'm not sure how all of it is going to play out. The fools could indeed create an escalation path with no off ramp. As Alex Christoforou from The Duran often says, "They have no reverse gear." You would think some of the billionaires pulling the strings in Washington DC would not want to risk everything they got, including their offspring - over a bunch of lunatics engaging in a futile slaughter fest in Israel or Ukraine. But what do I know?

You are right about the classic "abuser" response. A few weeks back I had the same thought regarding both ongoing wars. What happens when a side that does have the capability to launch any type of nuclear weapon, starts losing? Will they refrain from using their nukes??

Life seems a bit surreal right now. Sometimes I wonder what any of this is about. A random, cruel universe seems incongruous with one's own attempt to find meaning or care about any of it, including one's self.

You watched? My congratulations or commiserations, whichever you choose.

'You would think the billionaires pulling the strings would not want to risk everything they've got, including their offspring'....sure would. Their wealth and the power and privilege that comes from it, depends on a functioning, healthy global economy but if they destroy the economies of other countries they eventually destroy the global system.

I was kind of drawn in, like watching a car wreck. I didn't watch all the way to the end. So give me some credit!
