Yes, the collusion seems to run deep. There is only so much the general public is privy to. From my understanding, most politics/decisions are conducted in back-room deals - away from the prying eyes of the public. The idea of the "power elite" is to maintain their status quo and hegemony - to ensure that their interests will always supercede the interests of everybody else.
