Can you not criticize the government right now right here? Can you not criticize Pharma, big or small, right now right here? Big IT? Police? Military? I think you can. Here and at quite a few places more. On a corner somewhere with a banner. Etc.

Does it mean they don't rule over you?

Yes you can criticise those things but not as freely as should be possible. Try criticizing Israel and you will be actively censored. We see that in the mainstream media who also censor criticism of BigPharma and others.

"Try criticizing Israel and you will be actively censored." - not here. And in many more places you won't.

But let's say you will be censored at some NYT or WP forum. Does it mean they rule over you? Just in one sense - you can't comment on their forum. And the keyword is "their" forum. But you can still get on with your life otherwise, and so they don't really rule over you where it matters.

But you can criticize Israel out on the street. Will they put you in jail for it? If you do it legally, they won't. But here's the kicker - they (the government etc) still rule over you, even though you can criticize them.

That's the gist of my response to the top comment of the thread.

It’s not possible in the places where 90% of people get informed, or rather misinformed. As Noam Chomsky once said to a journalist of one of these misniformation networks: “Its not that you dont believe what you are saying, Its that if you did NOT believe those things, you wouldn’t be allowed to hold the position that you do”.

Go look at the mainstream media and speeches of mainstream leaders. It’s not just an issue of what is there - it’s what is NOT there - such as…. critique of israeli genocide.

Because that critique it is NOT allowed.

Not all rules are written. Some you can detect by inference.
