Yeah, its ridiculous and absurd how Ashley Babbitt has been made into some kind of "martyr" by people on the far right. Confirmation bias is always at work - no matter how much context is provided, no matter what the facts are, most people will continue to believe what they want to believe. Very few people have the courage to think critically and question their own belief structures, their own world-views, their own unconscious biases.

BTW, this is in no way a critique of the far-right. Every homosapien has biases and the need to belong to their in-group. It applies to people on the left, right AND people that don't belong anywhere on the spectrum of left-right. This need to "belong to a group", to "feel right about one's intuitions", to "feel good about oneself" - all these human needs become stumbling blocks in the application of critical thinking.

I personally, respect a person's opinion more if that person is always questioning his/her thought processes, always questioning their own belief structures, always dissecting their own biases,...
