Indu, we are far beyond arguing about who to vote for or which candidate is the lesser of two evils (at least I am). I think it is (or should be) fairly obvious (hopefully) for most people in this community about all the things you mention above.

The discussion (in my opinion) is about how Trump, Obama, Clinton, etc. have fooled many people through their unique personality traits - and how either because of inadequate knowledge or confirmation bias, most people are unable to come to grips with reality about these different Presidential personalities.

The problem now is how to get rid of this idiotic political system that favours rich people despite their obvious mental incapacities.

Isn't that the trillion dollar question? If only we had an answer to that... then maybe half the world's problems would be solved?

Jeano - I would very much like to believe that. Oh, how I wish everything you say above comes true!

Unfortunately, being a skeptical observer of humanity, I have come to temper and reign in my optimism bias - not just of myself, but of the rest of the world too.

- We had the holocaust and the world did nothing. (WWII was fought not in defense of Jews, but because of territorial conflicts and great power politics)

- We had the Rwanda genocide and the world did nothing to stop it.

- We had the Myanmar genocide and the world did nothing to stop it.

- We had the atrocities (in my opinion genocide) in Yemen and the world did nothing to stop it.

The list goes on....

I cannot point to a single Genocide that the UN (or any other nation or Government) has been able to prevent since the creation of the UN.

I really, really, really, desperately what to believe that this current conflict in Palestine will wake the world up enough to bring about some much needed justice in the world. I pray to the Universe (and everything in it) that this happens.

The more I read and understand about psychology, sociology, human behavior, the complex interactions of various variables connecting all these fields in the context of historical events, the more depressed I become.

There is a really good book that sheds some light on this topic - "The Sane Society" by Erich Fromm (https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/40717990-the-sane-society)

I have almost lost my faith in humanity, and I desperately want someone or something to prove me wrong!

It was Bobby McFerrin who sang “Don’t Worry, Be Happy”. But Bob Marley is cool too. 😁
