Separate out the two issues. You can criticise the police response while supporting the Victorian government's health measures. The protesters appeared to have a diversity of views and I am not sure lockdowns and vaccine passports cover all their views. Vaccine passports have not received much attention in Melbourne because we don't have them. There may be more of a discussion about them in coming months. The trigger for the protests seems to be the vaccine mandate for construction workers. The vaccine mandate has already been applied to health workers without causing issues. Reports from here and overseas indicate that health workers welcome the mandating of vaccines as it makes their job easier. Mandatory vaccination of children who use childcare has been in place in Australia for years.

A responsible approach is to criticise inappropriate police conduct without giving oxygen to the views of the protesters. Police violence is not new to Melbourne. The police baton-charged protesters during Bloody Monday" at the Richmond Secondary College in 1994. Police also baton-charged protesters at the APEC Summit meeting of the World Economic Forum, held in Melbourne in September 2000. The Victorian Ombudsman investigated and found that police had used overhead baton blows, kicking and unauthorised holds.

Why is anyone consenting to a vaccine mandate when the vaccine has been proven to not protect the vaxxed from infection? I simply don't get how people have lopped off their critical thinking skills and are 100% listening to the failed MSM narrative. My God.

Hilarious, they have you equivocating over "unauthorized holds" that the Administrative State can think up along with so much more. Main point is that you cannot legislate good behavior and you can't legislate how to deal with bad behavior well either. But, the People are not the Government, and you have to be able to overthrow bad government because it won't go on its own. That's the point they really don't want you to endlessly equivocating over...
