The Catholic church demonized mysticism while that sect encouraged it, both distracting people from the questions they were having? I'm most likely wrong here, it just seemed quite coincidental that the changes in the organizations were opposite and around the same time. I'm not knowledgeable on theology except for historical stuff happening around those times.
I don’t know about any of that. I think the Hasidim are much older than the Catholics as they are Jewish, and have always had a strong ethos against Israel but don’t know when it began.
