All war is evil, and our US Govt has always been a perpetrator, but there is a difference between ongoing wholesale war such as existed in the Vietnam era and that which exists today, versus a few million lives in the interim years. The body count now is almost certainly in the billions or higher (perhaps trillions if you add in the genocide we're funding in Gaza), and the war machine is being stoked with billions of dollars.
The PNAC document is absolutely correct that Americans would not have bought into this pro-war shift, absent the catalysing effect of the world trade center bombing.
